A “Job Seeker Survey” conducted by Aerotek with 3500 people seeking jobs in the first quarter produced the following results:

  • 37 percent left their “shortest-tenured” job because of “poor culture” or “poor management”;

  • Conversely, employees who said they were staying were doing so for the following reasons:

  • Fair pay (29%)

  • Career advancement (28%)

  • Opportunity to learn new skills (25%)

  • The “hottest” field for recruiting is the skilled trades (55% of all respondents overall

  • 76 % of those said they found the skilled trades appealing, and

  • 84% said they were confident they could succeed in the skilled trades.

Ironically, perhaps, much of the growth in skilled trades jobs is caused by the demand for new infrastructure for AI, including robotics techs, HVAC engineers and general construction jobs.
