Benefit costs may increase by up to 6.5 percent next year, according to a Mercer study. That would produce the highest benefit costs on record. That increase takes into account cost-reduction plans already in place; without those, the projected increase could have reached around 9 percent!  

Also, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA), apparently included some provisions that were retroactive to January 1, 2025. Employers are advised to check with their tax advisors to see if there is anything applicable to them.
