People Changing Their Approach to Careers?

According to Randstad and Glassdoor, a workforce adaptation is underway, in which the advent of AI is causing people to feel more uncertain about their career security. Consequently, more are engaging in “side gigs” for a wide variety of reasons including upskilling, distrust of leadership, diversifying or protecting their income streams (the largest number), or stepping out of “traditional” career progressions. Randstad concludes that two significant steps employers can take to retain their personnel are providing “fluid, non-linear career paths” (i.e., flexibility) and facilitating work-life balance (important to nearly half of those surveyed). Other surveys have also agreed that workplace culture is an important factor in employee retention.
