Maryland Subcontractor Debarred for Wage Kickback Scheme

An HVAC subcontractor was debarred for 3 years and required to pay nearly $600,000 for misclassifying workers and forcing subcontractors to kick back any wages over $31/hour – despite pledging to pay prevailing wage rates.

It is noted that DOL assessed fines and penalties of over $14 million in their fiscal 2024, so they are on alert.
