What is the No Robo Bosses Act?

A California senator has introduced a “No Robo Bosses Act” in response to the rise of AI.

Under this act, companies in CA would not be permitted to allow “automated decision systems” (i.e., AI computers) to make employment decisions, such as hiring, promotion, discipline or termination, without the oversight of a human being.

The bill would further forbid the use of such automated systems to predict the future performance of human employees based upon their personal information. The objective, according to the sponsor is for AI to “remain a tool controlled by humans, not the other way around.”
