New Criteria for Federal Grants

The process for processing federal grant requests is being completely revised, per an executive order from President Trump, in view of the abuses being discovered. Senior-level oversight will be required; applications will be streamlined, and alignment with national priorities will be an important consideration in awards. Other aspects include inter-agency coordination/communication to eliminate redundancies, consultation with subject matter experts (SMEs), and annual progress assessments toward pre-determined, stated goals. Another new requirement is the provision for early termination “for convenience,” potentially limiting open-ended programs.
