Medicare Part D Changes for 2026

In 2026, the number of standalone prescription drug plans is decreasing by 22% from 464 to 360, and the premiums for those plans is rising by about 33%, or about $30 for 25% of beneficiaries. 

The number of Medicare advantage plans with drug coverage is reduced by 9%, from 3246 to 2967 plans. 

A new out-of-pocket cap of $2100 has been implemented to help contain costs for beneficiaries, and recipients can budget payments in monthly installments.
