Don't Overlook FMLA Compliance

There is so much else going on in the business and political worlds that it is easy to overlook those things that are not new … like FMLA compliance. Employers are covered if they have employed “50 or more employees for 20 or more calendar workweeks [either consecutive or intermittent] during the current or preceding calendar year.” Both employers and employees have obligations for communication (which is particularly important to avoid confusion, misunderstandings or other problems, etc.), certification, etc. The federal FMLA website at https://www.usa.gov/employer-fmla is a thorough source of information for employers who have any questions or uncertainty regarding their rights and/or responsibilities this program.
