AI In Recruiting – Update
The University of Chicago ran a test using voice-based AI for initial interviews with the following interesting results:
Equitability increased: 17% more women and 27% more non-white candidates advanced beyond the first screening stage;
Job performance and employee retention and quality remained roughly the same; and
Efficiency of the recruiting process increased, including less time spent by recruiters and quicker time-to-hire.
The AI system used a structured scoring system, which helped to reduce both subjectivity and the possibility of discrimination.
As noted in a previous issue, New York state is the first to require that companies disclose the use of AI in determining layoffs.
